I came to yoga from an athletic background and immediately gravitated toward both the physical and physiological healing aspects of Yoga.   Immediately I found a deeper benefit to my practice.  I found a calmness and peacefulness that centered and grounded my nerves and steadied my emotions.  I dedicated myself to a daily practice under the guidance of an Iyengar influenced teacher and later under several qualified Ashtanga teachers.

After years of a committed practice, in 2011 I received my 200-hour RYT Ashtanga based teacher training certification in Cape Town, South Africa under the guidance of Jim Harrington.  Last year I completed a second RYT education totaling 420 hours in the Synergy style of yoga under the guidance of Simon Borg-Olivier and Bianca Machliss.  Synergy weaves together traditional yoga, science and physiotherapy.  My transition into teacher has increased my dedication as a student and to my own daily yoga practice.

Originally from the United States, I recently returned to Kenya with my long term Kenyan boyfriend.  For the past three years we were living in Denmark where I was teaching yoga full time.  With a Master's degree in International Peace and Conflict resolution I have had the opportunity to live, travel and work on human rights and development projects all over the world.  Teaching yoga internationally has truly been a rewarding experience.  I am grateful for the students I have met and continue to meet as they allow me to continue to learn and grow as a human and a teacher.
